Logo follow-up

Here's what going on about the little logo contest.

This is what I have received so far and in order to not have to make a new post for every new submission, you can find the latest visual summary here.

Lonely Dragon

Pyrah

Serenity

As a reminder, there is no rule but it has to be a logo or a mascot. The thematic for a mascot is around a dragon or a dragnix (anthropomorphic or not) character. For a logo submission, I don't want to set guidelines as it would defeat the purpose of brainstorming something... but at the same time some guidelines could be useful. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place... So I will only say that so far there are no "simple" submission (the kind of logo that would make a good icon/avatar) so there may be some untapped possibilities there.

Logo/mascot contest... sort of

I don't really know how to start this so I will just move to the "important" stuff and work from there.

Dragnix is a website without logo and as someone (from the gallery) suggested, it would be nice to have one and some sort of "contest" would probably be a fun/convenient way to achieve that goal.

To be very honest, I am not sure how many people would be interested in such contest so I will try to make this as broad as possible. You can either draw something as you would do for gift arts or you can do some sort of "brainstorm" and the final logo will be made by taking ideas here and there amongst all the submissions.

What is the reward? I don't know, I suppose that if someone likes my style, s/he can ask me to draw something. The kind of drawings that appears on my gallery is more or less the kind of stuff you can expect, other than that I don't really know.

Re: Domain Problem

It seems that my host has registered the Dragnix.net domain for a single year (contrarily to what I instructed them to) instead of two. They fixed the problem and everything should return to normal very soon but this whole incident is perhaps a good example of "if you want something done right, do it yourself"...

Okay, maybe I'm a bit harsh on them as they fixed the problem very quickly and the damages were limited (the domain wasn't available to be bought by anyone else and no data was lost). But couple this with the fact that not a single PHP script was working from Dec-5 to Dec-7 because they screwed up the update to VDeck 3.0 (which apparently was just out of beta) and you can probably see why my patience is wearing thin.

At any rate, there are two domain names that can be used to access the website, Dragnix.net and Dragnix.org.

New domain: Dragnix.org

I have registered the name Dragnix.org and changed the links on the main page to the new address; everything is now redirected to the new domain and the website should work just like it was before. The only problem is that every link on every search engine are still pointing to dragnix.net so only people who use the main page to navigate the website will not be affected with the domain issue. As for the domain problem itself, I'm still not sure how long it will take for it to be fixed.

Error - Warning

Domain Problem

Apparently there is a problem with the dragnix.net domain, as it now displays a generic message like when a domain is abandoned ("This domain is parked, pending renewal, or has expired"). I have contacted my host to see what is going on but at first glance, the timing for this kind of issue cannot be any worse; it's the eve of a weekend and just a few days away from Xmas. Hopefully, everything will be fixed over the weekend if not, I will have to think of something else to by-pass this problem.

New Server

The site was moved to another server (within the same host) during the past few days and the situation was only completely resolved earlier today. This was caused by a lack of disk space on the server which lead to the suspension of all 'write' operation (including the Sunday evening update and prevented me to warn people of the problem) in order to prevent data lost. This problem didn't affect mail as this is handled by different server.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
