Why do rulers like to keep dragons as pets? Do the dragon enjoy being pamper or are they just putting on a front? And speaking of dogs, why do the dragon and the dog don't get along in the chinese zodiac? I think it might have something to do about dog being man's best friend.

If dragons are sentient, they may just enjoy the company and friendship. If they are just animals, it may be similar to dogs and humans.

As to the zodiac, it's more concerned with people exhibiting certain traits, not the animals themselves.
