Stentor
Shimmering scales, sleek and cold Black as midnight, the coils unfold
A neck ascends, graceful and steep Lined with spines, venomous and deep
A sinister head, horned and spiked Raises from the mass and into the night
Yellow eyes, malicious and fierce Gleaming in the darkness, ready to pierce
A wisp of smoke that curls and churns A meager prelude of all the burns
Silken wings, black and immense Beat the air with great repense
Four taloned limbs touch the floor The wings stroke harder, harder more
Then it rears up on just two legs And along the ground a mighty tail drags
Then with a jerk and a sudden twist Off it leaps into the mist
Darting through the star lit sky A mere shadow to the naked eye
A single roar echoes with might Stentor the great hunts tonight
