Done this trying to see how an anthropomorphic dragon would look on the back of a horse, doesn't look too bad. The bridle is bitless (on purpose) as it gives the drawing a bit of a positive mood by showing some sort of cooperative tone between the two creatures instead of one dominating the other. No name for these two fellows yet. I have some ideas but I'm still not completely decided.
The dragon is one of my more typical ad&d anthropomorphic creature; light-footed, bright and agile with a small dose of god-complex (i.e. they tend to think they are superior to every other races but if you can get past that, they usually make dependable and resourceful companions). On the horse side, she is based (in retrospect) on an Arabian type with the wedge-shaped head, small muzzle and somewhat smaller stature. As we are dealing in fantasy here, she has a bigger cranial cavity and a higher IQ than any typical horse as it tends to makes more interesting stories that way...
it looks really good...the dragon on a horse is an interesting concept which I've never seen...but, being a person who know horse stuff...somethings you did kinda are off...one, the bridal is called a hacklemore, on the note of the bridal. the straps are slightly off for a normal bridal...and the saddle bugs me with the strap layout. but being around horses a lot I got used to one type of tack. its still really good tho.
Thanks for the comments, greatly appreciated.
I used this guy ( http://www.dragnix.net/Msg_Board/2014/Jay_the_horse.jpg ) as a reference; that big fellow is called Jay and he was my usual ride when I took hunting/jumping classes a while ago. So while I did learn how to ride a horse, they didn't give me much details about the gear so artistic liberties just filled the blanks
awesome! What did you major in? and yeah I had to start all over again on my thesis after basically having it finished (and sorry I forgot to check back XD)
Checking in with everyone after god knows how long! This is Firedrake. I know this site probably does not get much action as it did in the past, but it's engraved in my head as a childhood activity I would draw/upload (even though I was extremely bad at drawing) and talk to some great people on here.
I'm cringing at the past comments of my younger self while I'm here as well haha
